Introduction

Among the many transformations in the contemporary world are, undoubtedly, the unfold of mankind crossed by the different cultures, ways of acting and thinking induced by globalization, the appreciation of diversity, of unity and of the humankind. The man, still numb, is in search of his original essence, the first - what remains and is proper to the individual; because he lives in a world full of changes where the “real” demands answers that he has not yet elaborated.

Under this assumption, the spectacle The Riddle was born from the interaction with the piece "First Story" by João Guimarães Rosa, one of the most original and important Brazilian writers of all time.

Considered to be a difficult and complex writer, Rosa lies this complexity in the primary questions, the ones essential to life. Put yourself up in transit, to go through it, to live on the threshold between the opposites: limit and no limit, speech and silence, movement and rest, birth and death: the mystery that awaits us while we perish. I have the impression that Rosa presents us with a box of surprises that only reveal themselves once we experience this journey to interact with his stories.

Inspired by three stories of his work, namely: "The Third Margin of the River", "The Mirror" and "Nothing and our condition," The RIDDLE establishes an unusual way - "that, which was not there, had happened" (Guimarães Rosa); It is the referred man, seeking solitude in order to self-dialogue, about the condition of life and death, inexplicable, stuck to his finitude.
